Brayden get bittersweet reward at World Championship

Brayden Point wasn't quite ready to finish his effective rookie season.

This is exactly why Point, who'd 58 points (18 goals, 40 points) in 68 games in the first season using the Tampa Bay Lightning, recognized an invite to experience for Canada in the 2017 IIHF World Championship.

"It's awesome to stay in a men's tournament such as this,Inch Point told National hockey league.com. "The correct answer is the recognition. Just dealing with meet lots of new guys is fairly awesome. You play against them the very first time this season, after which to satisfy them … this is an awesome tournament.

"It is a good, fun group, too."

But getting the chance to participate Canada was bittersweet Blue Jays Apparel Canada.

His first National hockey league season found a too-early finish when Tampa Bay unsuccessful to entitled to the Stanley Cup Playoffs the very first time since 2012-13. The Lightning (42-30-10) finished fifth within the Atlantic Division with 94 points, they trailed the Boston Bruins and Toronto Walnut Leafs by some point for that two wild card records in to the playoffs in the Eastern Conference.

Tampa Bay went 8-1-one in its final 10 games and won its last three but emerged short. Regardless of the disappointment, the growing season helped set a tone for Point.

Point would be a big cause of the Lightning's late-season push.

He'd 16 points (nine goals, seven assists) in the final 15 games while centering the Lightning's top line. Point finished the growing season on the three-game point streak (four goals, two assists) coupled with 11 points (six goals, five assists) in the final 10 games.

"Injuries, especially in the middle, dismantled we so we needed someone to become a No. 1 center," stated Tampa Bay coach Jon Cooper, who's coaching Canada in the World Championship. "That child … we put him within the role and that he flourished inside it. He earned everybody else around him better. It has been a fantastic growth year for him. I understand there's other rookies within the league whose names have overshadowed his, but he was perhaps our top players all year long so we don't result in the run we did without Brayden Point Dave Stieb Jersey."

Without hurt forwards Steven Stamkos, Tyler Manley, Vladislav Namestnikov and Cedric Paquette, and wih the Lightning getting worked Valtteri Filppula and John Boyle in the National hockey league Trade Deadline, Cooper moved Point in the depth chart onto a line with Nikita Kucherov and Ondrej Palat. The mixture clicked.

"To experience with individuals two guys would be a great privilege," Point stated. "They create the sport a lot simpler. It had been an enjoyable experience. You certainly know you have great players, the best within the league, in your line.

"In the beginning I had been a bit more nervous since i desired to make plays with individuals guys."

Cooper stated playing for Canada will help Point's confidence.

"Psychologically, it solidifies him sitting here saying, 'I've found my method to the National hockey league,' but out of the blue the planet Championship team will get selected and he's among the guys that's requested to visit,Inch Cooper stated. "Players stand out on their own confidence. The greater confident those are the better they get.

"This can just help somebody's confidence to sit down here and say, 'Wow, I am having fun with some exceptional players in the Nhl from the top players on the planet and I am succeeding.A I believe it's his confidence that will help throwback nhl jerseys."
